Cook is the winner of The Kryder Law Group, LLC, Community Leadership Scholarship and will attend Harvard Law School in the fall.

CHICAGO, IL, September 16, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ — Vanderbilt University graduate Mary Catherine Cook is the recipient of The Kryder Law Group, LLC’s Community Leadership ScholarshipThe Kryder Law Group, LLC’s Community Leadership Scholarship. Designed to honor an applicant who goes above and beyond to show true leadership on local and national scales, the $1,000 scholarship will go toward Cook’s upcoming academic endeavors at Harvard Law School.

Mary Catherine Cook wrote her essay on the three most important elements of a true community leader, drawing from lessons she has learned in her extensive studies, volunteer work, and internships. Those three attributes, she writes, are “a service-driven heart, humble intelligence, and integrity.”

In service to others, she has worked on issues related to healthcare disparities in rural Appalachian areas during Alternative Spring Break ventures at Vanderbilt. She also spent time working on the Senate HELP Committee, where her work includes “shortening the FAFSA to… a little over 30 questions.” This move will help future students seek federal financial aid for education.

Many experiences have driven Cook to seek out a career as an attorney, including watching her father display a service-driven heart through pro bono work. Recalling her time spent interning under Judge David Proctor in the Northern District of Alabama, Cook writes that any legal professional’s service should start with personal integrity. “He is careful to not even jaywalk,” she writes, for fear that others would perceive this minor infraction as an indictment on our legal system.

The Kryder Law Group, LLC is proud to award Mary Catherine Cook this $1,000 scholarship and awaits the myriad ways in which Cook is sure to add to her already impressive body of leadership experience.
