After 13 Grammy nominations, Peter Kater finally wins a Grammy for Best New Age Album for his record, Dancing On Water.

NEW YORK, NY, January 30, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ — The number 13 proved to be very lucky for Peter Kater, who won the Grammy for his record, Dancing On Water, as the Best New Age Album last night at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. Joined by his 13 year old son, Nathan, this was Mr. Kater’s 13th nomination but his first Grammy win.

“Finally winning the Grammy Award after 13 years of nominations felt surreal and amazing with a sweet sense of relief. I was in shock for an hour.” [Peter Kater]

Dancing On Water is a solo piano album that was inspired by raindrops hitting the top of the ocean in his hometown of Maui, Hawaii. The record was a #1 best seller on Amazon, #1 on the ZMR International Airplay Chart and was #3 on Billboard’s Top New Age Albums Chart.

“Dancing On Water is probably the most genuine and heartfelt recording I’ve ever done. It’s a pure improvised solo piano recording played for individuals lying under my piano. It’s very intimate and personal.” [Peter Kater]

In his career, Peter Kater has recorded over 60 albums and has scored the music for over 100 television & film productions including 11 On and Off-Broadway dramatic plays. Having the award show in NY this year also stirred up some nostalgia for Mr. Kater, “It’s also cool that the awards were in New York because of the Broadway plays I scored in the 90’s.” His music has been featured in everything from Olympic games to the Kentucky Derby to Wild World of Sports and many in-between. He has performed all over the world including the United Nations where he received the prestigious United Nations Environment Leadership Award.

The other nominees included: Brian Eno (Reflection), India.Arie (SongVersation: Medicine), Kitaro (Sacred Journey Of Ku-Kai, Volume 5) and Steve Roach (Spiral Revelation).
